Medical disclaimer
Information on this website is educational and does not replace an in-person medical examination, diagnosis or individual medical advice.
1. General information only
The pages about retinal conditions and treatments, and the articles in the journal, describe general medical knowledge. Every eye is different, and whether a description or a treatment applies to you can only be judged after an examination.
2. No diagnosis online
Neither this website nor messages sent through it can provide a diagnosis. Before a visit we may review your situation and earlier reports to plan the appointment; a diagnosis and a treatment recommendation are made only after an examination in Tirana.
3. When to seek urgent care
Seek medical care immediately, where you are, if you notice:
- a sudden increase in floaters or new flashes of light;
- a shadow or curtain spreading over part of your vision;
- a sudden loss or distortion of vision;
- eye pain with redness or reduced vision, especially after eye surgery or an injection;
- an injury to the eye or a chemical splash.
After a chemical splash, rinse the eye with plenty of clean water while you seek help. Do not wait for a reply to a message or for a planned trip.
4. Results of treatment
Treatment results differ from person to person. Statements on this website describe possible options and typical courses; they are not a promise of a particular result.
5. Illustrations
The schematic cross-sections and drawings of the retina on this website are illustrations. They are not images of patients.
6. Medicines and treatment decisions
Do not start, stop or change any treatment or medicine on the basis of information on this website. Always discuss this with your doctor.
